One year on...

I recently took a holiday to Cape Verde and it was being there that really got the cogs turning.

As I was walking round, taking snaps and experiencing what really was a bizarre island (more to come on that) I thought to myself 'if only there was something I could have read (other than a travel agents brochure) to give me more of an insight into what to expect here'... and that is when I knew I was missing writing my blog.

The main purpose of a blog, in my opinion, is to gain information on places/products/things from a 'real life person' and THAT is why I am coming back... because I truly miss giving those honest opinions and writing about 'stuff'!

I sort of fell out of love with blogging and decided to give it a break. It wasn't giving me the satisfaction that it did initially and to be honest, I found it too much of a chore. I was bored.

One year on however I am feeling more inspired. I hadn't really considered writing on here again after I slowly faded out the posts and never returned after my post last April. I saw blogging as more of a thing of the past. Been there, done that. Got bored. Time to move on. However, I am now really missing just being able to come to my laptop and write about something I love. If I am honest, I not only fell out of love with blogging but I also fell out of touch with make up. I wasn't really into it anymore. Even though that isn't the only thing I like to write about, it was the main reason I started For the life of me, Em in the first place and without that love of make up, there was really no point in carrying on.

I had qualified as a make up artist in the months running up to my last post but after hitting a point where I wasn't really sure what I was doing with my life and things all became too bewildering for me to know what the hell I was making of life, I seemed to block the world out and as I would say 'just carry on pooling along'.

As you would expect, a few things have changed since last year and I am feeling more inspired than ever to get back onto the blog! I still have no clue what life is going to throw at me and each day is a blooming' rollercoaster but...

...I am back and I am super excited about it!

See you soon,

E x

"Better for you" Banana, Oat and Chocolate Chip Cookies

...

It has been a while since I've popped over to the blog..

Today I am just quickly visiting to share with you this is easy and quick recipe..

You will need:
4 Ripe Bananas
2 Cups Oats (I used Flahavans)
1 tbsp Pure Canadian Maple Syrup (I use this just to stick the mixture together and bind it)
Chocolate Chips (Use a good quality dark or plain chocolate!)

Now:

- Preheat your oven to 170 degrees C

- Mash the 4 ripe bananas in a bowl

- Add the 2 cups of oats and a handful of chocolate chips to the banana 'mush'

- If the mixture looks too dry, this is when you add your maple syrup.. don't add it all at once, just a little at a time until the mixture is binding together nicely.

- I use an ice cream scoop to grab my mixture and place it onto a lined baking tray

- Squish your little balls of cookie dough slightly, they won't change shape much whilst cooking so make sure they are still nice and thick!!

- Bake for 15-20 minutes!

It is as easy as that..

Enjoy

IM ON MY GAP YEAR!

Oh my gosh.

Where has the summer gone? I mean we are already heading into Autumn? It is madness! But for me, this is the start of something new, fresh and totally awesome!

Several months back, I made the scary, but also very exciting, decision to take this year out after I completed my A Levels in June. So now September has come around and schools/universities are all heading back for the year ahead, this also means my gap year has, I suppose, officially started.

I am totally excited to see what the year is going to bring me and once I have some more solid plans for the year (I am trying this thing where I am more spontaneous) I am hoping to write lots of posts for you all about the year and my experiences!

Watch this space!
